Can Socializing Prevent Weight Loss?
Are you working out and eating right, but not losing weight? Do you feel that you are doing everything you are supposed to and still not seeing any weight loss? While this might be the case, there might be a hidden factor preventing you from losing weight. Alcohol might be the culprit.
People drink for different reasons. Some people drink because they enjoy that glass of wine with a meal. Some people find that they go out with friends and want to have a drink or two or more to help them relax and socialize better.
Wine aids digestion. Drinking red wine has hidden health benefits. These statements are true, but may make the fat loss process longer.
When people are trying to lose weight, they watch what they eat and exercise. People tend to overlook the hidden problems with drinking and losing weight. One reason the two are difficult is that alcohol is LOADED with sugar. Well, actually it is loaded with alcohol which converts quite easily to sugar. This sugar increases insulin and make it extremely difficult to lose weight.
There are two hormones that are responsible for fat processing. These two hormones are insulin and glycogon. Almost everybody has heard of insulin in reference to diabetics. What they don’t know is that high levels of insulin cause the body to store fat. Glycogon, is a hormone most people have not heard of. Think of it as the reverse of insulin. It makes the body utilize fat rather than sugar. If you have high levels of glycogon then losing body fat will be simple.
Mixed drinks also cause a problem for weight loss. I say mixed drinks because most people like the fruity, flavorful drinks, versus drinking straight alcohol. Here in lies the problem. These fruity concoctions contain several hundred calories. The one drink becomes almost a meal onto itself. Can you see why this might be a problem?
Beer belly, not just what happens your freshman year in college. Actually, this comes from the body storing extra food just like normal fat. Your body is naturally lazy. I am not say that you personally are lazy, what I am saying is your body wants to save energy until it really needs it. When we drink, it gets the energy from the alcohol, leaving the food you ate until later. This is by storing fat.
Now while this might be looking like you can never have alcohol again. That is not the case. Everything in moderation, but you do need to make choices. If losing weight is your goal, maybe forgo the drinks when you go out. Be social and have fun, but stay sober.
