Health and Dark Chocolate
There is a lot of information in the news today about antioxidants, about how good they are for us, and how we should consume them in our diets.
Antioxidants are in our food and they can slow or prevent the damage oxidation causes our bodies. The cells in our bodies use oxygen, and a by-product of the processes of using oxygen is our cells producing free radicals, and these free radicals cause damage to our cells.
Fighting free radicals is a great way to improve our overall health and longevity. When we include foods in our diets that contain antioxidants, the free radicals are countered. But when we talk about antioxidants, how does that relate to chocolate and the health benefits dark chocolate may provide?
Dark Chocolate is well known for it’s health promoting effects. More and more studies are being performed about how dark chocolate added to the diet can actually increase an individuals health and life.
But why does dark chocolate help us be more healthy? What is the link between dark chocolate and health that we can add to our own lives?
When you consume dark chocolate, you are adding a wonderful source of antioxidants to your diet. Dark chocolate can help fight free radicals. When you include a healthy amount of dark chocolate in your diet, you are aiding in your body’s health.
Of course too much of anything isn’t good, but with dark chocolate, we can eat quite a bit before we gain weight. Of course we need to learn what is healthy about dark chocolate, what kind to eat, how much, and other fun and interesting facts!
